We have a passion for learning at Mangawhai Hills College. We promote quality and excellence in all we do through trust, friendship and collaboration. Students are well educated, knowledgeable young people who think critically without bias.
We embrace an inclusive learning environment, with great learning resources alongside connected local and international curricula. At Mangawhai Hills College we may be surfing at the beach, hunting, fishing, hands-on building or engaged in nature activities.
We also learn that our college is not about the same old schoolwork. It is about exciting, intentional teaching and learning about our community, history and environments that engage our students.
Around our school you will hear collaborative learning discussions and observe activities and projects based on and connected to the local environment, in order to give back to the community.
Teachers help students if they are upset or having trouble with their learning and students have one to one time with the teachers. Students have fun while learning and are allowed to study what they are interested in, even researching, planning and going on field trips.
Engaged with our environment, we are assets to the community. We use and share all the skillsets of people in our community. We also build a global community by studying geography and history, keeping in touch with current affairs that are happening in other parts of the world, and learning about other cultures and languages.
Mangawhai Hills College students are happy, engaged students who want to come back every day. There is a sense of feeling of ownership at the college. We know anything is possible and have a growth mindset of not giving up. We are resilient when things do not go our way.
