Mangawhai Hills College Receives a Pass Mark

Education Review Office reviewers visited Mangawhai Hills College on 30 October and spent two days examining the delivery of the curriculum, the learning environment and checking off health and safety aspects. This review is required within twelve months of a new school opening to get sign-off and full registration as a school with the Ministry of Education.

The reviewers said a highlight of the visit was the story behind the establishment of the college and the passion of the people involved in setting it up. They called Mangawhai Hills College a “little school with a big heart,” and referenced the skill base of the teachers and the positive interactions between staff and students. They said there is “a culture of care and commitment to students and whānau. There is evidence that school plans, vision and values are lived.”

They also observed that students are offered a wide range of experiences for the size of the school and said that the additional community resources accessed and utilised are very impressive, as is the community support for the school.
ERO’s conclusion is that what is on offer at Mangawhai Hills College validates the parents’ choice of school for their children.
